Lion hybrids
Panthera leoLions have been crossed with other big cats in captivity. These hybrids are not species, and no wild hybrid has been confirmed. In each entry the parent listed first is the father. The list covers the crosses with a documented case. It leaves out names that appear in lists online but have no sourced case, such as the “liguar” and the lion × puma cross.
Hybrids have no conservation value, and the United States bans breeding or owning them under the Big Cat Public Safety Act of 2022 (Public Law 117-243). This is not a complete list: it covers only crosses with a documented case, and there may be more. Select a name to open its main source or page. See Forms and variants on the lion page for size, fertility and law.
